I know I am in the middle of the coconut oil moisturizer test however, it will take some time for me to see results so today I wanted to touch on the importance of diet. When I am out of town and not eating somewhat healthy I can see the negative impact on my skin within a few day. My upper arms dry out extremely quickly when I'm not keeping my diet under control. As I'm sure you are aware there is vast differences in opinions about what is the healthiest way to diet. Recently you are seeing people cutting out dairy or blaming all their problems on gluten. I tend to adhere to the mindset that everything is alright in moderation. I have tried cutting out different food groups before but found that I'd be much more likely to stick to a diet that didn't impose such a strict limitation. Now I am into aspects of the paleo diet. The paleo diet is essentially just the idea that the healthiest way to eat is unprocessed whole foods. I simply try to eat unaltered high nutrient food and stay away from the high fat fake food. I had never put a lot of stock in the whole organic movement but once I started being more conscious of what I ate it did wonders for my skin. Before I made those changed my KP was so bad it was uncomfortable and itchy. After the change in diet my skin is staying more hydrated over longer periods of time. You don't need to strictly follow any diet and if you are already consciously limiting what you eat you probably wouldn't see a huge difference but I had horrible diet habits for years. Not only does my skin feel better but I feel like I have more energy and I am definitely leaner. Diet is often overlooked when dealing with skin conditions but we must remember that your skin is affected by everything you put in your body.
